Canadian Career Progression

Hello,

I was wondering how would somebody eventually get the qualification to fly for somebody like Canadian helicopters or cougar, flying to offshore ships and installations. So far it seems like the only way to get ship boarding experience in Canada is to fly with the military. If that was ultimately somebody’s goal the “fast” track to such a position would be through the military flying what was the sea-Kings and now the cyclones, right? It seems like it would be a rather lofty goal for somebody without military experience to set as their goal.
