Band 5 Speedtest - Mall in Chicago
So I went to the mall since it's Christmas shopping season. There is a lot of people here and unfortunately the mall is covered with brick.
There is a T-Mobile Store and a Sprint store here.
Mid to High Band cannot penetrate the mall.
Sprint literally has an Airwave with an antenna outside of the mall up to the roof for signal but horribly congested here.
T-Mobile has Band 12 but since it's 5x5 here, it's not going to be useful data wise. But calls and texts work as normal with 2 bars on an iPhone X and 3 bars on a S9.
AT&T has little to no LTE signal due to the nearest tower being about a mile away. - There is HSPA+ at decent speeds nearing 120ms ping - 70ms Jitter and 3.21 Mbps down and 1.56 Mbps Up.
iPhone XS performs poorly compared to an S9+ on AT&T. Often dropping calls.
Finally Verizon, they don't have a DAS system here but. Band 13, Band 5, and somehow Band 4 can go through. Nearest tower is half a mile away and is shared with Sprint.
Band 4 has around 1 to 2 bars on LTE though, but still latches on at 1 bar until you go deeper and connects to either Band 13 which gives a better signal or Band 5 since it's unloaded most of the time.
I believe Band 13 was decently fasr when I connected to it so I guess my S9+ switched to Band 5 or the network did itself.
I was on the phone as well, calling a relative so these tests were done via VoLTE.
I'm getting these speeds. https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/4518074816
My Device is a S9+ - I just wanted to share.
Here is another screenshot of Band 5 using LTE Discovery.
