[TENANT - USA] Someone has parked their truck in a way that blocks the entrance to my apartment.

Tenant

Hi y’all,

Reaching out here in case y’all have any advice (I frankly don’t have anyone else to ask).

Here’s the details:

About a month ago, someone parked their truck in front of the stairs up to the entrance of my apartment. After a few days, I left a note asking if they could just move their truck over a few feet to an area that isn’t blocking the stairs. Long story short, the truck has never been moved. I don’t even know who owns the damn thing. But I’ve left multiple notes, so I can rest assured knowing I tried being diplomatic.

So now that winter is upon us, the situation makes it super difficult to get to my apartment. He’s literally parked square in front of the only stairs to my place.

I called my landlord and explained the situation. He told me he isn’t the landlord for all the properties in our row-just my apartment and the one above me. He also mentioned that the lot doesn’t have a tow truck company on file or anything. Since he isn’t in control of the parking situation in this lot (it literally seems like no one is) and we don’t know who owns the truck, he said it’s out of his hands.

So my question for y’all - who do I call to get this truck out of the way? I don’t want to have to pay for something like this because I really can’t afford a tow truck. And it seems like the person who left the truck there never checks on it.

Now after typing all this out, I had the thought that maybe I could call the police? But I’m honestly not in love with that idea. I’d rather them not get involved.

I would appreciate any advice on the situation. TIA.
