another battery thread - is it done for?
I got an S7 in January of 2017 and I have had the worst battery life over the last 3-6 months I have ever experienced. At least my S4 was just slow by the time I replaced it. I've gotten Better Battery Stats and 3C Battery Monitor to pull some extra data that I'm posting here to show my phone in several different cases. I used to think it was wakelocks or some out-of-control app so I reset my phone completely and added a few apps back at a time. It seems "ok" when you aren't using the phone, but that defeats the purpose. I get maybe an hour or so of screen-on time which is an absolute joke. I typically charge at least once if not twice during the daytime on a work day.
fg_fullcapnom shows 1160 so I can estimate 2320 mAh, or 77% of original capacity. fg_cycle is 488.
I don't plan on replacing the phone for at least another year. I looked at S7's on eBay and it looks like $200-$250 for a new one and that's hard to justify if I'm just going to replace it in another 12-18 months. There's a cell phone repair place near my office that will replace the battery for $75 and test first, to hopefully validate what I'm seeing. Takes an hour or less so seems worth it to avoid the hassle of doing it myself and it has a lifetime warranty... which I'm sure is impossible to get.
Device Maintenance and battery don't say I need to put any apps to sleep or anything is draining a lot of resources. My screen brightness is quite low, but is on auto as well. Typically on wifi at home. I see a few things in the data, but it's around system stuff so of course it's hard to target what exactly is causing it.
I'm hoping with all of the screenshots I was able to get, some body maybe sees something that stands out that could be cleaned up and maybe make this thing useful again. I get maybe a few hours of life listening to music at work and a new battery won't necessarily help if there is something using power. I've googled this off and on for over a year as it has steadily gotten worse and was hoping the update to Oreo would help, and it did for a bit... but now here I am.
tl;dr - Battery life and screen-on time suck balls. Considering replacing the battery but want to see what you guys see in BBS data that is just going to drain a new battery too or maybe make the one I have usable.
