Hassio on docker: tell me why I'm an idiot.
I've been happily running hassio on a pi for a couple of years now, it's all configured how I want, but it's slow as hell when restarting and I feel like I could get better performance from a real PC.
I have in my possession an old Zotac Mag that was a HTPC in an previous life. So I installed Xubuntu and Docker (I have ZERO Docker experience) and got a "normal" homeassistant container up and running.
It was here I ran into the first problem: I struggled to get for example a Cloud9 container working properly (couldn't figure out how to point it to my config directory, basically). I think I probably just don't quite understand how the containers interact with each other yet.
I was, however, able to get a hassio container up and running, similar to this: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/this-is-how-i-installed-hass-io-on-ubuntu-with-docker-portainer-via-ssh/71743
I can install add-ons as expected from the Hassio menu, and they show up in Portainer as add-on containers. Bluetooth seems to pass through just fine from the host to the hassio container. I haven't tried zwave yet, but I don't imagine it'll be a problem.
I understand this is not really a standard install in any way, but I'm looking for a sanity check before I proceed too much further.
So, let me have it: why am I an idiot for setting my server up like this?
