Soooooo, what about the mannequins?

Do you that Bethesda will ever release more information regarding the weird mannequins in Fallout 4 or are they just a little running gag of some sort in the game? The mannequins are always in odd places and are in poses which seem extremely weird and coincidental based on the surroundings.

Not to mention in one of the DLCs (I think Far Harbor), there is a sunken ship with a note in the captain’s area where the captain writes how the mannequins are starting to creep out the crew and they constantly hear strange noises. The mannequin inside this room with the captain’s body is standing over the skeleton while holding a melee weapon.

So has this been talked about before and will Bethesda ever shed some light on this?
