[NEED ADVICE] Got invitation to be a speaker at a TEDX Event

Hello Reddit magic community,

I've received a request for performing at a local TEDX conference(in Europe) in the spring of 2019. I would love to get some advice and ideas from you guys on what I could talk about or perform obviously with magic and some entertainment incorporated.

I'm 26/M, asian and I believe im the more humorous type of performer. I haven't performed for quite a few years already. Used to do Stand-up and close-up magic but am able to learn anything. Don't want to work with big props.

Being part of this event is voluntarily and I do not get any money for it. This should be a good advertisement but I do not plan to do any gigs after that event due to having a normal job is enough for the moment.

E-Mail:

TEDx(localcityname) is a full-day event, with an audience of 100 people in (localcityname). Our goal is to bring together bright minds to give talks that are idea-focused, and on a wide range of subjects, to foster learning, inspiration and wonder – and provoke conversations that matter.

Your talk would be filmed and an edit will be hosted on the TEDx YouTube channel. Just as with all speakers, we would work together ahead of time to craft the talk. Your talk could be up to 18 minutes, on any themes or topics you're interested in.

Please let us know whether or not you’d be interested in speaking, and if so, we would kindly ask you to fill out our application form.

·       Your biography (between 50 and 75 words)

·       Your photo (high resolution)

·       (Provisional) Title of your talk / performance

·       Short description of your talk / performance (75-100 words)

·       ± 2-minute (low resolution) video describing your talk (very informally please just stand and present to the camera)

Thanks in advance!

TL;DR:

Got invitation to be a speaker/magician at a TEDX conference. Max. 18 minutes. Can talk about any themes or topics. Would love to get advice/ideas.

EDIT 1: Declined offer. Not going to participate as a speaker:

  • I have high standards and believe I'm not able to deliver perfect magic and presentation within 3 months of preparations
  • Some pressure, knowing it could be posted onto the official Tedx Channel on Youtube
  • Heavy workload upcoming
  • Don't need the exposure
  • Would have done it for the experience but might be able to go listen, which is fine to me as well.(Seats limited to "random" 100 people)

Thanks for the comments
