Newly diagnosed - Constipation & Pain

Hi,

This is my 3rd time posting on here in 2 weeks, I apologise it’s just super new and google I can’t really find anything specific to my questions.

Basically I went into the hospital at the start of this month for 8 days as I was really ill, thought it was endometriosis as had this years ago but had been fixed in an op and thought it had come back. I had 90% of the Crohns symptoms rather than me listing all, I just didn’t have major blood in stool just occasionally.

All tests done X-ray, CT scan, small colonoscopy, stool samples, bloods apart from full colonoscopy, couldn’t handle prep and confirmed Crohn’s disease.. inflammation in colon and small bowel.

So they put me on antibiotics to start just as a cover while they diagnosed me and also put me on steroids, 3 days in from this I start feeling really good diarrhoea has stopped, my appetite is returning, I’ve stopped losing weight and feel better than I have in months. I also look like a different person I didn’t realise how ill I looked until they started me on medication.

I’m eating really well, 3 small meals, 1-2 small snacks and then 2 nutrition drinks just for now building up to completely solid food.

My issue now is that I’m constipated, I go everyday but it’s too hard now and too big (sorry TMI) it hurts when I need to go and I spend 30 minutes on the toilet sweating until it’s done, and also panicking as I’m worrying I’m doing damage inside and could perforate my bowel!

One thing that could be causing it is the fact I need to take a super small dose of oramorph in the morning and the night, I can’t take any other painkillers as NSAIDS I have been told no by DR and I’m allergic to paracetamol (tylenol). I’m lowering my oramorph dose as my pain reduces, I hate the stuff and I hate the thought of being dependant on morphine so no need for comments about addiction.. I know already I don’t drink or smoke I’m really clean living normally so I’m getting off them just taking it as my pain is still high in mornings / night.

I’m also on a low residue diet, so low fibre... you can see from my name on here I used to eat a lot of veg loads of fruit and at least 3 portions of veg a day.

What do I do about this constipation? Is it dangerous?

I feel like I’m boxed into a corner by my partner as well as they’ve been swotting on my diet and I even look at an orange and their tutting at me and saying just avoid it you don’t want to end up back in the hospital over eating some fruit.

Thanks all this group has been a lifesaver so far! X
