Questions About Employment Law

Hi everyone. I'm trying to learn more about employment law. I took one business law course in college, but I still have a few questions.

- Does the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission only protect people from being discriminated against or harassed because of the employee's race, age, etc.? In other words, if my employer is aware that I am being bullied by a co-worker for reasons that don't have to do with race, age, etc. and the employer refuses to put a stop to the bully's behavior, can I file a complaint with the EEOC?

- Is it true that in some states, if an employee resigns due to harassment that the employer refuses to put a stop to, the employee can sue for unemployment? (I'm talking about cases that don't involve racism, sexism, etc.) Also, if the employee reports the harassment to HR and then later notices negative behavior towards them, can the employee file a complaint with the EEOC for retaliation?

Thanks guys.
