[Lyrics] Some raps that I can't really share in person but I think they're pretty unique and want someone else to see them

Hey, these are just some raps I wrote that are pretty private/special to me (throwaway account cuz of self consciousness and illegal shit). I like poetry and given how my life's been anything autobiographical fits pretty well in to a rap. I don't have dreams of being a rapper or anything or even recording these as songs... they're more like therapy. But I think they're pretty good and I guess some criticism wouldn't hurt either.

Got four songs here that run the gamut of subject matter. If you're only gonna read one I suggest the one labeled "best song" because it's the best song. The rest are... aight? :\ idk check em out if you want.

Thanks.

Best song:

[Verse 1]

They say the world's a stage like we're all actors in a play

Thrown into the fray and molded in clay only to break and fly away

C'est la vie, they say, but every cloudy day in May

Takes me back to high school when we lost three in one day

Skies gray, tears weighed, teachers didn't know what to say

And the students? Some chose to pray, some ran away, I chose to stay

One from each grade laid to rest in their Sunday best.

Three more later that year, those of us still here

pour one out for the ones we held dear

and try not to cry over spilt beer.

Eyes up high, talking to the sky like the fallen are up there flyin,

ask them why they had to die and apologize for every lie.

Wonder if we tried hard enough, maybe we could bluff the reaper,

get it right before your light was snuffed.

Reminiscing, the bad coexisting with the good stuff.

[Hook:]

It won't do any good to say this isn't what I planned

But it's how I was born and it's how I'll stand

Lives just seem to slip through my hands

But that's just the way the Fates cut the strands

Smile for the day I die and join them in the sand

[Verse 2]

Back when he was a tough kid up to his chin in all that hood stuff, not one to bluff

Life was rough, big bro boosted banks, grew up seeing him in cuffs, fed time got him buff

Head barely above water, enarmored with bad karma, his first thought's to harm ya

Tormented by history, conscience consistently unconscious sophistry

World outside guides him into feeding the evil seed inside him,

while his sense of pride hides him from the pain that walks beside him

and the life of strife that stalks the sidewalks he grew up on.

He knows he grew up wrong, can't imagine that he'll live long,

finds his only place of refuge is the inside of a song,

only two or three minutes just don't seem that long,

but it's nothing a bong and strong green can't prolong

listening as the lyricist reveals the innocence of listlessness,

mindless militant insolence as brittleness and the incidence of wickedness

as causing dissonance with his soul's goal of simple bliss.

[Hook:]

It won't do any good to say this isn't what I planned

But this is how I was born and it's how I'll stand

Lives just seem to slip through my hands

But that's just the way the Fates cut the strands

Smile for the day I die and join them in the sand

[Verse 3]

Sigh as he moulders on a few uncorrupted memories,

the psychedelic relics of happier, hopeful time,

constantly turning them over in his mind to find

or recapture the rapture of innocent laughter he knew as a child,

before he got older and grew bolder and colder.

A self styled urban soldier running wild.

Looking over his shoulder, set on selling boulders

Turned 12, turned loose with a deuce-deuce, Duc de Puce

stashed with a little cash in a box of off-brand fruit loops

serial filed to braille twos but can barely afford shoes,

Here we recycle and reuse, we wipe our ass with the news

We don't talk about the abuse, we don't talk about the noose

You've got nothing to lose so just steal a bike and cruise

Cereal for every meal outside the school meal plan

Those are roaches not the raisins in the raisin bran

Only eat what you can steal, ignore what you can feel

Yeah we can make a deal but I'll die before I kneel

[Hook:]

It won't do any good to say this isn't what I planned

But it's how I was born and it's how I'll stand

Lives just seem to slip through my hands

But that's just the way the Fates cut the strands

Smile for the day I die and join them in the sand

[Outro:]

Others escape urban poverty scenes,

chasing away bruises and blues with black & milds piled with purps & greens

and a celly full of jellybeans, belly full of caffeine and promethazine

Dedication to medication, palliation for the lowest cogs in the machine

There's never a standing ovation for the supporting caste,

So don't bother looking for your name when the credits roll past

Just get a vocation, hopefully with some vacation

and cross your fingers you don't get fired when the markets crash

Obligatory pot interlude:

This song is dedicated you

Sweet lady mary jane

The one lady beside through pleasure and pain

It's without a measure of shame

That I treasure your name

Throughout the hard times you kept me sane

Lifting me up in the rain

Rolling joints into paper cranes

To take flight in the night

I'm drawn like a bug to a light

I know it seems trite

But when darkness & plight wrap tighter

The lighter ignites brighter

dreams and themes of a life lived right

wide my sight until fright becomes insight

It's not all good, but it's all good enough so I feel alright

Bide my time, exhale smoke like a sniper's breath

Maybe a crime, but inhale tokes, pipe I pass left

Half ounce joint appointed by my best friend's death

Now awake at a wake rolling shake, coolin, no flake

Just a little vedge to take off the edge, cook it and easy bake

Settle down, shift your frown, lit spliff don't set it down, get lifted and find ground

Just grab it out the pound, go to fucking town, it's all friends you're around.

A faction united by attraction to distraction, or maybe a reaction to a life fractured and in strife we find our common fraction.

Bound together tonight as equals by the blight of diesel and its sequel.

To see off our friends on their last journey under the steeple

Those pulled under by hunger for the wonders of a plunger pressed flush with a needle

All trespass is forgiven given the slumber is peaceful

See you all next week in the cathedral

Dirty dress clothes and all the same people

Til then, gotta work, get a refill, I know, seems venal,

but I know by now to prepare for the upheaval

When this lethal illegal evil takes another as a sequel

Mary kill no man, only make 'em gleeful

But I can't lie and say she's never been the prequel.
