[EVENT] Cashless 2030 Legislation

The Somali government, having prepared a number of the necessary preparations to begin the movement to a total Cashless 2030 program, will now put the first legislation and actions into place to bring about the policy of a Cashless Somalia from 2030 onwards.

Throughout the next 5 years a number of notes of the Somali shilling will be totally phased out and made illegal tender.

Although the Somali shilling was not currently being minted, all capable minting assets are to be sold off.

Businesses will be allowed to refuse cash purchases, although already government assets and the government did not accept cash.

Legislation will be introduced piecemeal over the next few years to slowly ban the usage of cash in different transactions, and banning the usage of cash in certain amounts reducing each year until 2030.

We thank China for facilitating much of the infrastructure and call for them to help oversee the final implements of this policy.
