Satanism, abrahamic proselytization, and environmental activism

Discussion

Since staying with my grandparents the past two years and enduring taking them to their Methodist church most Sundays, I've taken to looking to satanism for an escape. Christian congregations have a cult-like atmosphere and their uncritical support of proselytizing missionary work abroad is really distasteful.

I like the idea of low key sticking it to Christian dominance and I want to support organizations that are adversarial to it (like the much maligned TST) without co-opting a white-washed version of marginalized cultures (new age pagan/NA fetish bullshit). It seems like satanism also helps people actualize their self-esteem as an outsider, which is attractive since I feel like a meek person most of the time.

I've got some hold-ups though,

I'm pretty big on environmentalist activism, that along with atheism isolates me from the mainstream. It seems as though satanists are about living excessively, which is pretty antithetical to environmental justice activism in many cases. Excessive consumerist culture is a huge factor in environmental problems like plastic/waste pollution and fossil fuel emissions, and libertarian philosophy is generally pretty ineffective at promoting environmental protection, IMO.

That and the satanist aspects/themes with magick seems like a hard buy-in for someone that grew up atheist. Like how heavily does satanism rely on this aesthetic. I'm not as metal as I used to be lol.

Am I wasting my time with satanism?
