Making a npc out of another player.

I swear that when they were talking about the multiplayer of this game they stated something along the lines of if you complete a dungeon or stay with that person for a long time and then return to the base with them they would become a permanent part of your base. Was this all just bullshit PR talk when they were trying to hype up the game? I went through with my friend and killed the first dungeons boss together but his avatar doesn't show up anywhere in base.

It would have been cool if you could find them in your base after you had an adventure together. I like that you have companions in this town that help you when you are playing offline or by yourself but why couldn't we just see each others avatars when we synced up online for multiplayer.
