pharmaceutics VS. pharmacology?

could anyone provide any information on what the differences are between the departments of pharmaceutics and pharmacology? i'd like to send an email to the department inquiring about non-degree course registration for the winter quarter.

for the record, i have a chemical engineering background with bioengineering research experience, and am looking for non-degree courses to supplement my education before applying for a PhD program in either pharmacology or pharmaceutical sciences (although people have told me that pharmacology may be more suitable with my background).

EDIT: UW also has departments for medicinal chemistry and pharmacy. if anyone could provide differences between all four of these fields, that would be great!
