Out of State Speeding Ticket - advice appreciated
Hey Guys,
As an out-of-towner recently temporarily implanted in Madison, this community has been incredibly helpful acclimating to the change in environment.
I'm hoping someone can help me with a recent speeding ticket I received on Saturday night. I was clocked going 15mph over the speed limit on John Nolan Drive right before the Monona Terrace bridge (where the speed limit changes from 45 mph to 35 mph). The police officer ended up ticketing me for going 10 mph over and gave me 3 points with it. He admitted it was a speed trap for drunk drivers, thankfully I hadn't drank so I only received a speeding ticket.
What are my options at this point? Obviously, I was speeding, but I don't want the points. Any recommended lawyers to help fight this? The ticket costs $98, but the points are what I'm concerned about. I have an out of state license with out of state registration. Also, I may not be able to fight in person due to a busy work schedule (this could change).
Thanks!
Edit: I realize the title is misleading. Should probably read WI speeding ticket for an out-of-town driver.
