Question regarding battleforces

Hi all. I wanted to ask a few questions to clear some things up before I take the plunge and get a battleforce.

Are they like starter sets, in that the models are easy to build, but don't have extra bits and such. If not, is it just sprues in the box, plus instructions, or is it a case of smaller boxes for the included units being in the bigger box?
