Is there a way to find the cars a person has owned?

I'm trying to find a car that my brother owned about 20 years ago. But I have zero information other than year, make, and model. I don't have the vin unfortunately. Is there a way for me to find out the vin of the cars he owned? I can't really ask him since he's been pushing up daisies for the last 18 years, so that Avenue is closed. Unless someone has a medium that specializes in automotive archeology! Lol.
