Thought: Hank Hill from king of the hill is actually a pretty good role model for a man
Lately the TV show I've been watching is King of the Hill. The character development, humor, and their use of silence is brilliant. I just finished watching an episode where they accidentally take in a prostitute, but end up letting her stay because she genuinely was trying to change her course in life and fell back into the habit of easy money. After watching it, I actually had the thought that the character of Hank Hill is a pretty good role model (at least for my ideals).
Hank Hill definitely has some flaws like most normal people, my opinion being that he is definitely old fashioned in mindset (in general, but especially) of female and male gender roles, and that he is very closed off to subjects of emotion and exploration.
However, he is open to new ideas and opinions, he is ok with admitting he is wrong, he works to improve himself and do his best to positively affect his surroundings. He tries to at least be courteous, up until someone has proven that they do not deserve courtesy. He helps his friends when they are in times of need, and vice versa. Despite the very present old fashioned mindset, he (at least in how they wrote the show it doesn't appear this way) doesn't let Peggy's (his wife's) choice to be a substitute teacher become a subject of contention. He respects her decisions and respects the life decisions of all he meets while declining to partake in them if he disagrees with them.
As a sidenote, I feel it's important to acknowledge Peggy Hill's role in helping Hank with his character transformations throughout the show. As she is often the bridge between him and things he does not understand or disagrees with heavily. His positive role could not exist without her influence as well.
These were some of my thoughts on it and was wondering what y'all thought as well 😁
