TV + Shield + Soundbar - how?

Got a Vizio P65-F1, and picked up a NVidia Shield. Don't have a soundbar yet, but I'll add that.

Right now I have the shield connected to the TV via HDMI Arc/CEC. So I can wake up the shield and it'll turn on TV. I can cast to shield and it'll turn on TV, etc. etc.

But how does this work once I add a soundbar? I am thinking I'd surely want to connect it through the HDMI CEC so that the soundbar can turn on and off with the TV like a single device, but then how would the shield work?

If I plug the shield into a different HDMI port it cannot wake the TV anymore could it? Could the TV even auto-switch to the input?

Seems once I add the soundbar, I actually take a major step back in terms of functionality? Hopefully I'm missing something!
