Deep range DEAD-eye

Made a stretch 4 a couple days ago and i’ve been badge grinding, all other badges i have on silver/gold except for deep range deadeye, it seems as if i can take a heavily contested shot and it still won’t count towards anything. i just shot 40/48 3’s in the corner pumpfaking, waiting for my opponent to close out and then popping a 3 and i’ll get “Lightly Contested” the badge will light up but at the end of the game, no progress towards the badge.

any help?
