How the youtube videos of a coworker eventually became my favorite channel on youtube
I used to work with Matt at a shitty game testing company, he was a team lead and I was just a basic bitch tester so he was technically my boss.
We didn't socialize much at first, we'd spend our break times with our separate groups of work friends and during work hours we'd have the occasional game related joke or funny bug related comments, but it was mostly "professional".
This went on for a while until one day during a break I was telling other coworkers how "good" I was at street fighter and how I'd kick their asses. Matt shimmed in nonchalantly and asked "Oh you play street fighter?" I told him "yea it's one of my favorite games" all proud of myself thinking I was hot shit. During the following break Matt absolutely obliterated my ass (I don't think I've ever won a single game Vs. him) in front of all the other coworkers, I was shocked and we immediately bonded afterwards.
He quickly became one of the coworkers I respected the most at that shitty job, I have nothing but good memories from my time working with him. One day while chatting he suggested I check out his youtube channel, that he made funny videos about dumb stuff and that I should check out his series on street fighter called street fighter stupidity.
I subbed to his channel and checked them, they were cool but at the time I didn't think much of it. Eventually our careers took us on different paths, Matt left that shitty company and so did I eventually, I thought of Matt as a friend but you know how adult life is, we never really spoke socially after that.
One day I saw a post on facebook (back when facebook was a thing we were friends, we still are I think I don't really use it anymore) I saw him post a machinima video called... you guessed it , two best friends play. I watched the video and it immediately put a smile on my face, gave me nostalgia how we used to shoot the shit at work and joke about how garbage the game we'd test were, I was hooked.
The two/super best friends videos eventually became one of my must watch on release channels, not all the games were fun but even still, it was how I "kept in touch" with my old friend Matt and his friends.
I'm sad to hear the channel is retiring but I'm also thankful for the hours of video you guys put out, I'm gonna keep following them individually but it's like an era is over, like graduating highschool and going to college, you're gonna miss the past but you're also excited for the future.
So thank you Matt, Pat, Woolie and Liam, thanks for the good times.
