Landlord not allowing guests

So me and two other friends rent this basement in a house, we each rent one room individually for a total of 3.

Last night we had two friends over for late night drinking and the land lord came down and told us that the two guests have to leave as he stated this rule personally to my friend at the start before we all moved in.

When we declined he went on about how he will call the cops and how he doesn't mind if he has to evict us. I was wondering, as it was not stated anywhere on the lease whether we're allowed to have guests over or not. The basement does not have its own separate entrance however, we have our own bathroom, kitchen, etc.

Is he allowed to make restrictions and has a ground to evict us?
