Suggestions for multiple 2.5" drive options
In my quest to investigate getting rid of my DL380G7 for a more power-efficient/quieter whitebox, I'm investigating options to hold the small pile of HDDs/SSDs that I have in the G7, should I move to the whitebox.
The problem is that I have six 15mm height drives, which precludes me from using those awesome "8 drives in two 5.25 bays" adapters. I also have a few other normal height SSDs that I swap in and out.
So, I come to seek your collective knowledge as home admins and ask for suggestions on options to hold the following:
5 x 15mm 2.5" SAS2 HDD for RAID5 array
1 x 15mm 2.5" SATA HDD that I swap in/out for backups
2 x 9.5mm or less 2.5" SATA SSD
I could mount them all internally in a large case (P180 or similar I think) but I'd prefer some level of external accessibility if it's not completely cost prohibitive. That probably means 5.25" docking bays. But, I'm open to consider all opinions and options (e.g. I'm dumb for wanting externally accessible since drives rarely fail, etc.) but don't want to break the bank.
