Paramedics in Edmonton Alberta. Working with AHS

Education

So I'm signed up for my MFR course at nait starting at the end of January. I was hoping someone on here could answer a few of the questions I had about becoming a PCP. I really want to get on with AHS after I finish my PCP program at ESA. My questions are as follows:

  1. I really want to get on with AHS as an EMT as fast as possible so I can hopefully work in the city. What is the best way to ensure this will happen? ( Volunteer work, certain "lower level" jobs with AHS like house keeping or security, ride along, etc)
  2. If I do have to go out of the city to work what is the expected salary? What are the shifts like( camp work or will I have to move). Are there any companies you recommend?
  3. How hard is it to get into the advanced care paramedic program after working as an PCP for a year?
  4. Does being a ACP help with getting a job with AHS
  5. Any other pointers or tips you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.
