Is there any way to lose the cynical trait?

I’ve spent 30 years increasing my ruler’s piety and making sure he had all virtuous traits.

I sent him on a pilgrimage and he came back cynical.

I really want him to become a saint - how can I remove the cynical trait (e.g. a with a new focus)?
