Can't agree on a boy name

Baby Names

Hi namenerds! I've lurked here a while and finally decided to come for help (using a throwaway though since some people I know IRL know my main)

We're having a baby boy soon and we've not really decided on a name to choose... As in, we're both opinionated about it but we don't agree with each other at all. For a girl, we'd pretty much agreed on either Jane or Alice.

I'd rather not tell the surname since it's extremely unique (hyphenated). We hyphenated two medium-length surnames, so it's quite long. However you can just discount that, and give suggestions without taking the surname in consideration.

A name we both like but unfortunately can't use is Frederick (it's our newphew's name and we're very close to his parents so he and the baby will undoubtedly see a lot of each other).

I like some names that are a bit flowery and uncommon, I suppose, such as Leopold, Percival or Augustine, but my wife thinks they're too much. I also like some more classic (perhaps a bit old fashioned) names such as Alfred, Ernest or Albert. The names I'd say I like the most are Laurence and Francis.

My wife's taste I find a little hard to describe but I'll try to be clear. I think her taste is quite classic as well, but it has a slightly modern flair to it. She likes, for example: Leo, Blaise, Max.

I also like some gender neutral names such as Ashley or Valentine but she doesn't like the idea.

Some names we can't use for whatever reason are: Samuel (my wife is Sam), Benjamin (my name), Vincent, James, John.

There are some names that we both kind of like, but neither of us are crazy about, mostly some really classic ones such as Robert or Paul. I also don't think either of us really hates any of the other's names, but we just don't love them either. We also aren't really planning on having another child so I feel like both of us don't want to compromise because it's our only shot at naming a child.

We're looking for both a first and a middle name, however we're going to decide on the middle name only after we've chosen the first name since that's more important. Also, popularity doesn't really bother us in any way. And if it's important, we live in the UK.
