Interesting Facebook Study
Hi, Friends.
I'm new here. New to reddit altogether, actually. I checked out Catfish's Facebook page that someone kindly linked us to, and I found it to follow a trend that I've identified when looking at the Facebook pages of people who have killed. (Yes, this is one of my many odd hobbies, and if I can find anyone else who shares this interest, I'll start a blog or reddit page devoted to the study of such accounts). Nearly every single FB page of someone either accused or convicted of homicide is covered in those little self-affirming mantras. You know the ones. They usually consist of a photoshopped picture of some kind of natural scene or phenomenon and a poorly written and often forlorn statement about seeking true love or the meaning of life. Sometimes they are angry and vengeful and sometimes they just sound like quotes from a poster in a college dorm. Anyways, I find this SO interesting. It makes perfect sense, of course. People are conflicted, lost...trying to tell themselves that they are just misunderstood or that they are enlightened and knowing the truth is a lonely thing. Anyone else ever notice this? Catfish's page is a good example of what this looks like, though it's less about broken hearts than the majority of killer pages.
