New Ferret Care

Hello community!

I recently got a ferret. I expressed to my mother i wanted a ferret, after researching and stalking this community for months. Initially, i wanted to adopt, as i have seen many negative reviews pertaining to Marshall/petco ferrets. But, she surprised me after a weekend away with one, which she did obtain from a pet store. I just thought it was worth mentioning the source, even though im still very happy to have a new family member! So why i mention the source of the ferret, is because i needed advice on

1. Weaning him off of Marshall food and onto another diet. I read about a brand, i believe called Zupreem on this sub, but are there other good choices as well? What are the pros and cons or the diet you suggest? Any input on raw diets?

2. Which litter is recommended? I see shredded paper on some sources, and ferret/cat litter with certain ingredients? Which is best? And, would the newspaper ink possibly irritate my ferret in any way?

Im currently also repeatedly scrubbing his go-to potty spot with soap and water, and scooping his waste into the litter box he absolutely refuses to use lol. I know this takes time, though.

Any input? Any other suggestions and things worth mentioning? Im trying to leave him in his cage for at least 24 hours so he can adapt to the change and stress, but he’s rattling and wants to get out so badly. Should i continue to leave him in so he can adjust? Thank you in advance!
