Has anyone figured out how to Anki on a VR headset?

I've been using a gamepad to do my cards on an Android tablet with AnkiDroid and it has been great. I was thinking -- when I'm lounging around at home doing cards, it would be awesome if I could just place my phone in a VR headset and use my gamepad to advance to the next card like I've been doing. I've got a Pixel 3 so it's definitely VR-ready, I just haven't seen anything that explains if/how it might be possible.

Obviously AnkiDroid is not a VR app, but I'm not actually looking for "VR capabilities" from the app, just the ability to view Android in stereo. Any ideas?
