Guns or Cannabis?

I got my doctor's recommendation recently and I found out that I can't own guns and use medical marijuana at the same time. My question is: Can I transfer my guns to one of my family member and it is good enough? (we live in the same house if it matters) Or I must sell all my guns to someone else. By the way I live in California.
