Smoker buying help.
I currently have a Big Green Egg and love it for its grilling properties. I am less of a fan trying to smoke with it because I want a set it and forget it smoker (the most obvious choice is a pellet smoker, but I am fine with other forms of automatic control). I am hoping this sub will be able to help me locate a suitable smoker:
Budget -> Preferably under $1500 (lets call $2k a hard max, but only if I really think it is worth it)
Manufactured -> would prefer made in USA, but not a hard requirement
Material -> Would prefer something that isn't painted (at the very least not painted inside the cooking chamber), as I am paranoid about off gassing. This heavily skews my preference towards stainless steel, which also leads to my desire to have a nearly rustproof device.
Other thoughts -> Based on my requirements, something like a Memphis Pro fits the description, but blows through double my budget. Also, if I am spending on the higher end of the range I want it to be fairly large (>600 sq inches). I am much more flexible when looking at a lower price.
In conclusions, my CTQs are good automatic control with steady temps (wifi not necessary, but would be nice), no cooking chamber off-gassing potential, and as rust-proof as possible while fitting in my budget. Is anyone aware of such a product?
