To this day, I regret having given my stole of gratitude to my mom and not to my husband.
When I graduated, I had intended to give my stole of gratitude to my husband, but he insisted I give it to my mom because she would be upset otherwise. She would've been over it by now, though. My husband is the one who deserves it, by far. He is my treasure. He is the one who has supported me ever since we've been together. He is the one who has influenced me to become better physically and mentally. My mom has cooked for me, provided me shelter, and written my essays back when I was a lazy first-few-years student, but my husband would do all that and more without one complaint (he has even asked/volunteered to take some of my heavy workload off of my shoulders if it's just mechanical busywork and not specifically tailored to what I study). Also, my mom favors my siblings over me; my husband doesn't. Also, my husband trusts me and doesn't lecture me over every little unusual thing. The world doesn't revolve around me, but I am my husband's world, and he shows me that on a daily basis. These are only a few of many reasons why, to this day, I wish I had given my stole of gratitude to my husband and not my mom.
