Any tips for socializing your bird to strangers?

Does anybody have any tips for socializing your bird to strangers? With the holidays upcoming I usually have people over who my birds are not familiar with and one of them screams bloody murder until they leave or are out of sight (can't move the cage because it's huge, nor can I cover it because my bird who screams at strangers also screams when the cage is covered).
