[Spoilers S3E10] S3E10 Explained.

I saw a lot of people who had questions about what happened in the last episode of season 3 or make their own false assumptions. They tend to forget that what they are seeing isn't actually a real reality, but it's a simulated reality. (again, not a simulation, but a simulated reality)

Here's my explanation for E10:

The director knew V1 was going to fail, I think around the time the atomic bombs exploded. (having talked about this more, I think the director knew way earlier, maybe even as early as when 001 arrived in the 21st) So from that point on it made sure he didn't get taken over by 001.

How did he do it?

He knew the only outcome that would save him. He's a quantum ai, he just knew.

What actions were needed to succeed?

Protocol Omega was the big one. The director needed the travelers to think he had given up on their timeline, while in reality he didn't. Omega had to happen. It caused an unique series of actions that had to take place. It was the only way. (When the travelers ask Philip how many timelines he's seeing, he says 1. The only successful timeline.)

Philip not taking his pills anymore. Philip begins to see other timelines. Because he does, he has a feeling marcy is going to kill herself. She was going to, I think. Philip saved her by going to the apartment. Marcy needed to survive to make 001 desperate later on.

Next thing that happens: David gets fatally radiated. The director would have saved David. When marcy screamed at the security cam, she was right. But if David survived, would marcy have killed herself to prevent 001 to get access to the backdoor hack? Answer: most likely no.

Next, the travelers think they are too late, they think 001 won. I think it was grace who realises what the director is trying to do. So they think of the only thing possible to save the director. Stop 001 from ever going to the 21st. Thanks to Grant V2 is able to start.

This leads me to my last conclusion:

They were part of the only timeline who could have saved the director. Otherwise there would have been multiple Grants (T3468's) in 2001.
