(17F) Came to visit my sister (31F) in another country after 4 years without seeing her and I feel like I'm destroying our relationship
So we are all from Brazil. She has been married for 7 years.
Just a background: my sister has always been the "guru" in the family. Our mother really trusts her with anything she does and she is usually praised for whatever she does. Most of the times with me our little sister (15F), we have received much-unasked advice about what we should do related to our future and we grew up having her and our mother make plans for what we would do in the future (where to study, what to do before going to uni, religion etc) and this has got me from last year to the present one farther from her, because I know how to make my decisions, this doesn't mean advice is not welcome, but that they do not get to choose for me.
So I came to see her and her husband (30M) for the first time after a long time and meet her daughter, who's 1.4 yo.
Besides having a good relationship I think our differences are kind of coming in our way, but I am thinking that maybe my actions are taking place in the blame too.
I am at their place, which makes it different. Somehow I am feeling this difference of being at her place in vacation while they are working and for a long time. It's not like I came to see them for the weekend and came back home, I am staying for the full vacation time.
They work 10h a day and I stay at home with their baby, taking care of her for them and taking care of things in the house.
Every week they come to me to remind me to do something, or to do something in a different way. Also, they have been very picky with me staying with them, eating what they want me to eat, checking my timings and the things I do.
They wanted to make some friends my age and I thought it was a great idea, but there are no teenagers in the community they live in here. So I managed to make one friend. He lives in a neighbourhood 30min from here but he has a car and we have been out sometimes since I met him. My sister is kind of controlling who I go out with, the times I go out and where I go. I understand they worry about anything happening, but they got to know this friend and he has been to their place here a couple times. I don't go out to any place that isn't public and I do take care of myself. I don't come home late and still, they are not my parents (and they made it clear to me).
I wanted to see some different places since I am in a different country and this friend is one of my ways to do it, since they work a lot. Besides, they were the ones who encouraged me to make friends. Knowing this friend lives a bit far from where we are I wanted to go out by uber, I have money to pay for it, I just dont have a credit card and my sister refused to let me use her credit card and pay her back. She basically restricted me to go out only with them, I do like to go out with them, but sometimes I just wanted to go somewhere different because the places they go are very family like because of their baby, not the most interesting to me sometimes.
I have also woken up late sometimes and they got angry with me for not having breakfast with them, but I mean, I'm on vacation, and I very usually have breakfast with them every time.
We only go out in the weekends and it gets me crazy to stay here 24h a day doing nothing, but they won't let me go out after they are home (which is at 6pm, i consider it early)
My sister noticed I am a bit fed up with this and came to me today saying that if I want to go home earlier they won't get offended (already showing they were offended by other things I was doing. Example: the other day her husband came to wake me up because I was sleeping until late and I was wearing underwear and it got me super embarrassed. I sent him a message and my sister said she asked him not to come to my room anymore, but that he treats me like his sister and that it should be ok).
OBS: Since there were episodes I got upset with my sister by telling me what to do, telling me things about my boyfriend (she doesn't know him) and other things that shouldn't make her decide stuff for me, I have been growing apart from them since them.
I just wanted to see with you if I am being an annoying teenager who thinks everyone is against them, or if what I'm saying is reasonable here.
tl;dr: my sister and brother in law are telling me what to do and complaining about some things so I haven't been so close to them since then and we are all getting uncomfortable with this, don't know if I am being an annoying teen by not doing what they want, don't know if they are just showing care or they are really controlling stuff.
