Without a doubt the most dedication I’ve put into an achievement, and I loved every minute of it

It's such a grind, congratulations. I was doing the hunting requests lastnight, 3 hours to find a fucking woodpecker... Nothing but song bird after song bird.
The Mrs. Hobbs questline was easily the most time consuming of them all. I spent two and a half hours trying to find a freaking possum
The minute you give up and try to complete something else, that's when the possums show up.
And then after you get the item you need, it shows up a zillion times afterwards.
Had that with the egrets in the exotic first step. Was getting screwed on getting the final 2 or 3 even as I was saving and loading a bunch in Lagras and elsewhere and once I got it done, egrets have been everywhere in Lagras.
The Algernon Wasp quest (flowers for Algernon... I see you R*, I see you) thing was way worse than the hunting requests for me.
The hardest part about the songbirds was that you couldn't do it on horseback, really, because riding prevents you from aiming upwards very well. OTOH, egret spawns are pretty rare so I had to save/reload cheese it for a few hours just to do that one part of it.
S-SE of Riggs Station is a opossum spawn point. Just ride around the area at night. The worst is the Robin though. The spawn area is so small and impossible to find without google.
Try the civil war fort in Lemoyne south of van horn. Sit inside and watch the walls. All the birds will spawn there pretty quick
97% here, getting there.
I started a second play through to attempt 100% completion.
I missed some things first time playing that can't be done now.
As far as I’m aware nothing is missable that could prevent you from getting 100% completion. E.g. you don’t need to complete every single Stranger mission to get 100%
I didn’t get the lions paw trinket. Although I may have still been able to get 100%, that bugged me
I don't know about the Lion one specifically, but I repeated the Rains Fall mission to get the Owl trinket and kept it after repeating the mission from the menu
Damn I’d just be happy to see enough moose/bear/cougar to get all the Trapper outfits
You only need like 2 black bear pelts, and 3 cougar pelts. Panther also needs 3 pelts but it literally only has one spawn point (comparing to cougar's 10ish) in the game, dammit.
But mooses are bitch to find, Jesus Christ.
All the black bear I’ve found were 1 or 2 star. The Cougars... ugh I just did the master hunter challenge and they’re so annoying. It’s so weird because I feel like I saw plenty of moose when I first bought the game but I must be misremembering. Probably just elk
Probably elk, I got the platinum for the game and I only ever saw 4 moose, one of which was in multiplayer
Seriously where the fuck are they? I’m sick of tromping through the snow around cairn lake and having ram and elk being the only animals to show up with potent herbivore
One spawns swimming in Owanjila from time to time
I saw one there once but I couldn’t get it out of the water, when I shot it it was in too deep of water to retrieve
Did you finish the side quest with the gunslinger and bookwriter? The very last location of that stranger strand is the spot where I find a moose 75% of the time.
Just popped up on my map today, I’ll try it out tomorrow. Thanks!
I can never complete the Ghost Bison due to the goddamn elk glitching out.
Is that the one in West Grizzlies where it keeps spawning ODriscolls on top of the elk so it won’t spawn?
It's the one east of Cotorra springs. It's legendary, and in the compendium it says Killed but not skinned, and it wouldn't even let me sell the fucking pelt.
I can tell you where cougars spawn. But I’ve yet to find a pristine moose or grizzly bear.
I finally found a pristine grizzly last night while retrieving the double-bit hatchet from the remains of a shack just northwest of Wallace Station. I could hear it roaring for about 5 minutes while I was there but the red dot never appeared until I got on my horse and headed back towards the trail. It charged me as soon as I saw it but it was far enough away for me to get off my horse and line up a perfect rifle shot to the head before reaching me.
Finally got my bear chaps from the trapper!
I gave up after I kept getting angry at Gambler challenges, 98% currently.
Have some hoddam faith and dont give up!
Which ones got to you? Blackjack or dominos?
Dominos
Play regular draw dominos at Emerald Ranch. Win your first game. If you’re about to lose, stand up, then sit back down for a new game. It won’t reset your win counter. Actually won my first two games normal then just had to stand up a couple times before getting the third.
Ever since online came out I rarely play single player and online sucks atm that's how much faith I lost. But thanks for the advice maybe I'll try to get it even though I don't know how to play dominos
Nice congrats im.going for it too
Best advice, get to Herbalist 9 as soon as possible. Then get a list online of every herb/plant in the game, then as you're doing every other challenge, stop and pick every plant along the way and mark them off as you do them. I had 29/43 by the time I had finished all the other challenges
I also recommend getting the Tonics or Legend of the East satchel prior to Herbalist 7 - Special Miracle Tonics. You need 30 currants and yarrow and 20 burdock which is harder to do with a 10 ingredient satchel limit.
My games unfortunately bugged. I've done everything you can do for 100%, except find the treasure hunter to start the High Stakes treasure map. It's been more then a week now of doing nothing but searching all the areas he can spawn. Nothing. 99.2% is wildly frustrating.
For that challenge you can find ANY 10 treasures with a map and there's definitely more than 10 maps so you might not need the high stakes maps.

Congrats! As someone who is in the process of doing this right now in my second playthrough, I know the dedication and time it takes.
I finally got the challenges done yesterday and also finished up dino bones and the exotics. I can say I did not enjoy every minute of all of those challenges or the first step of the exotics with the plumes. Horseman #10 can go F right off with having to rely on rng for the required horses to spawn in. That challenge took me most of a day. Glad I got it all done though as Arthur looks snazzy in that outfit.
Now I am left with completing the main story, and a few other things that will be pretty simple and will be done in the epilogue. I do have 3 hunting requests to fill so that's probably going to frustrate me if I get the same crappy luck with them spawning in like I did with the horses. One positive thing is I found a dead woodpecker that was 3 stars while riding around looking for horses so I don't even have to deal with trying to find one.
How did you complete Herbalist #9 before finishing the story?
final stretch boys I've just got American Venom and gambler challenges left
Am trying this myself, am 90.1% so far.
Do you have to complete all of the stranger/side quests, or only the collectibles? I’ve missed out on the Braithwaite girl sidequest and don’t know whether I’ve gotta do that?
You have to complete 10 stranger missions so some can be missed. Rockstar's Socialclub page doesn't seem to list specific stranger missions so it seems it is any 10.
I got the achievement for the 10 stranger missions yesterday so all’s good ;)
Did you love doing those gambler challenges?
Finished them last night. It's a good feeling!
I've got the last collectable (the one you can only do post-epilogue) to complete when I get home tonight. I had a lot of time off this month and got pretty lucky with the RNG on a few (dominoes only took about an hour once I got to play draw dominoes vs. one other player).
I'm working on this right now. Just did all the dream catchers, and now I'm on horseman 10...
Any advice?
Do the Gambling challenges first, Gambling challenges #8 will bring out the inner satan in you
What part of the game are you in?
Post epilogue two. Already got everything except for collectibles, (working on graves ATM and weapons ATM) challenges, and the attributes.
(Already at the level of Satan just from bandit challenge 7)
Edit; oh and I'm looking for cougars
Start with the challenges first, make sure you reach your 100% doing something unimportant or trivial, because as soon as you reach 100% a cutscene appears and it takes you somewhere else
Okay. Hey just a question: the legendary elk bugged out for me. Is the antler trinket required for 100%? Or am I good?
Hang by the hanging dog ranch by all the purple flowers. Just about every horse spawns there by riding up and down the road. I completed it in about a few hours with the exception of the Hungarian halfbred which I had to go towards black water for
Haven't completed rdr 2 100% but I have completed 1 100% and oh my god was it a pain
I feel RDR 2's 100% task is far worse than RDR 1. A handful of the RDR2 challenges are just pure trash and rely on nothing but luck/rng. It's quite annoying.
Part of me kind of regrets going for it in this second playthrough as I thought I'd be enjoying everything but at times I have be annoyed enough to not want to be playing. Thankfully I got all the challenges done so the only potentially really annoying thing I have left is the hunting request part. I do know that once I am done it all that I will feel happy for the accomplishment and also be happy I won't have to ever do it again in future playthroughs. I am very glad I didn't bother going for 100% in my first playthrough as some of that BS one has to deal with would have soured that initial experience of the game/story for me.
I will say it is nice to have the challenges done. Felt such relief yesterday when I finished the last 3 I had as I really wanted to get that outfit before the epilogue and I'm very glad I did. Was very pleased to see the Austin chapter 4 glitch was still working when I went in there Saturday as I was expecting it to not work. Don't know if they fixed it with the Tuesday patch as I had disconnected my PS4 from the net before then, just in case.
I said my comment with an implied (rdr 2 is bigger than rdr 1 and if I found that hard then Jesus Christ)
Welcome to the club partner!
congrats! i just got the legendary panther done on my lunch break and it put me at 60.0% exactly (i'm still in chapter 4). 100% is the goal!
I want to do this but I’d have to spend an unfathomable amount of time tracking down random trinkets and completing the 60+ challenges I have left that I don’t know if it’s worth it. Maybe I’ll go for it on another playthrough and try to knock some of it out earlier on, idk.
Definitely not worth it unless you're an ocd completionist. I hit 91% and lost all motivation. Funny part is it will take me 2-3x longer to do that 9% than the other 91%.
Exactly, I’m sitting at 89% but it will take me weeks of consistent play to get through the rest. The thing is, I got 100% in the first game and was quite proud of it, so part of me wants to do it just to keep the tradition going. But that game didn’t have collectables, plus all the side-activities were fun. A lot of it in RDR2 is kinda monotonous and only exists for the sake of checking something off a list.
Congratulations
Gambler challenges are still hunting me :(
I recorded every single hand I got trying to get Gambler 8 (Hit 3 times in Blackjack).
It took me just under 3 hours and 190 hands dealt just to successfully get 1 third of the challenge done. That was easily the biggest grind of them all, however it didn’t suck too badly because I just got drunk (irl) and listened to music while doing it
Next stop: Skin and study all the animals
how to study the animals from gurma
They do not count towards the achievements
You don't need them for that.
For the love of God... Please... Send help. I'm 3 days deep into searching for the Rio Grande turkey and still cannot find it. It's my last animal. I just want to be done.
