Just got this game, quick question.

I read that it's 5 teams of 2 when doing bounties but it seems like everyone dies off or it's not full games when playing? Seems awfully easy to get the grandslams.

Is there a log or something that shows who was in a game with you or what happened to everyone else?

The idea of the game is great but very stale when you can just collect hints and collect bounties but never run into anyone.

Until you get to tier 2 unfortunately most lobbies will be empty as the game doesn’t have a huge player base currently. Take your time in tier 1 getting used to weapons/the game and don’t be afraid to lose your hunters. It’s a bit of a time commitment but once you get to tier 2/3 you’ll see a lot more people and get into a lot more fights.

Also yeah it’s up to 10 people in a game but it’s not always 5 teams of 2, they fill a random assortment of teams of 2 and solos together, it’s all based on their elo matchmaking

Ok thanks for the info!

I actually just found the post about ranks and tiers and how they matchmake when you're new also.

Awesome! Also as far as I know there is no current way to check who or how many people were in your game, also I don’t think that’s something they are planning on adding in.

Good! I enjoy the hardcore win it all lose it all type games.

Eft and Rust is where we are coming from.

I'm suprised you understood that terrible typing. It is that way but honestly its extremely fun especially when you either A.Find the right duo Or B. Play with a friend. Everything in this game is ever fleeting so to just take things as they come is an extremely good way to progress.

What servers are you playing on? I play on US east and probably 1/100 games I end up by myself.

US West

Damn, I’m not sure why you’re getting into empty games so much then. I feel as if US west should also be pretty populated

My buddy that I play with is stationed in South Korea and he uses the Asia option for servers so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it? Or we just aren't high enough rank to get out of the low tier matchmaking queue?

Whoever invites the other is what servers you end up in. You’re right though it could be the low tier matchmaking. My first couple games were like that.

Given the lack of a tutorial mode atm, which is planned before release, you should use the “trainee queue” to practice gunplay and other game mechanics.

Once you hit bloodline 3, you get placed into the regular MM queue, which now uses a ELO system to match folks together. This means that you will get placed into matches with folks much higher geared. You won’t lose hunters until lvl 16 tho.

Edit: As for lobbies, the regional server system really depends on the peak hours to have a full lobby. The servers tend to fill up once folks get out of school/classes/work. If you are playing in the morning, then it’ll be more difficult and I’d recommend sacrificing your ping and joining another server.

Yeah we played for about 3/4hrs and got to rank 28, still in that first matchmaking tier according to that long matchmaking post.

The tier system no longer applies as a factor in MM. it used to be that folks would only get matched with people in their tier, but that system made MM a pain if you were a new player in the somewhat desolate zone of 1-33.

Now, it’s an ELO system, where every player gains points for kills and loses points on death. MM uses the hidden score to find opponents. It only functions well if the server pop is decent, which only happens during peak hours.

You could be in empty servers, but you’ll never be officially told that bit. The best way to tell is A: how long MM takes to find you a game. The longer the queue, the more likely that it is empty or underpopulated. B: if there is a wait during load in outside of you/your partner.

The good news is that the average daily playerbase is growing again and the monthly peak almost broke 4K for the first time since September this weekend. Practice as much as you can so you’ll be ready when you find teams.

There used to be a "new players read this"pinned thread ...what happened to it?

Yeah, you're gonna start dying a lot once you are with other players. The easy bit in the beginning is to help you get acclimated to PvE and sound triggers before a single flock of crows means that another team hunts you down and ambushes you. That being said, Quickplay just hit live servers this week, so the regular Hunt games have felt more empty than normal.
