The mother of Addison Russell’s daughter, Mallory Engstrom, has come out to express & share some personal stories involving her & Addison’s relationship via Instagram. This is another woman being put through hell by Addison aside from Melisa Reidy - who he domestically abused.

Jesus. This gets worse and worse. I know everyone is going to come to his defense and say "we don't have the whole story, these are just accusations, he didn't really do anything", but it's seems pretty conclusive that he's a shitty person. Being an emotionally abusive, cheating, manipulating husband/boyfriend to your wife/mother of your children is one thing. But who is also a dick to their own children by treating them like this?
EDIT: Just to quickly address some things that I'm sure will become bigger talking points. I know this doesn't tie him further to DV, but it's just another ugly side to this story. Furthermore, I understand this attitude of cutting off children due to spoiled relations with the other parent may be fairly common. But I'm not going to lower the standard for human decency because it's more prevalent than one would hope.
He is a shitty person, but this doesn't tie him to further domestic violence issues at least, I guess.
to be honest, a pretty (un)fair number of divorced breadwinners. maybe that makes them all shitty people, or maybe just human, or maybe both or neither depending on the circumstances.
there's room to be circumspect about this, as there's a lot we don't know of course. but i do agree that, however you weigh it, it's another bit of information in the mosaic and obviously many Cubs fans are interested in who Addison is off the field these days.
Not coming to his defense. Fuck him. Too much evidence. I wait for evidence before I make my choices. I choose to condemn him. Same with Murphy. Fuck both of them.
I personally disagree with Murphy’s lifestyle as well, but you just can’t compare the two. A disagreeable belief is not the same as a deplorable action.
I didn’t say verbal bigotry was as immediately devastating as physical abuse. I just said fuck both of them. Russel for abusing women and Murphy for being a bigot.
A disagreeable belief that leads into further oppression because if we're being honest and not ignorantly naive we know that Murphy would readily support things that beat back the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals like all the other fuckheads that spew bigoted shit
Fuck Daniel Murphy and fuck the entire situation with Addison Russell because people act like others can't bring up another relatable subject of shittiness because "oh it's so much less and doesn't matter as much"
I'm just fucking sick and tired y'all I wanna be so done with baseball because fucking people are atrocious and it's getting clearer and clearer that nobody gives a fuck about being actively welcoming and supportive of LGBTQ+ fans like myself
I mean for fuck sake Steve Clevenger got tossed from baseball for being racist but Daniel Murphy gets defended and "what he said isn't all that bad" for being a fucking homophobe
I think the difference between Murphy & Russell is we don't know if Murphy actually has negatively impacted a person's life because of his views. Whereas Russell has destroyed multiple with his direct actions.
I don't like what Murphy said either and there's no excuse. But comparing his statements to Russell's actions is incredibly disproportionate.
100% agree when it comes to Russell. Fuck him. But Murphy? Sure, I don't agree with what he said or believes. But as long as he's still treating people with respect, he's allowed to have his opinions. We can't just hate on someone because they have a specific view on someone. Only hate on someone when they are actively seeking to hurt someone.
If he said that about black people or Jews we’d be calling it incredibly hurtful. Why does homophobia get a pass?
Why are we supposed to applaud his “diverse beliefs” when it amounts to bigotry?
Fuck bigots and fuck his defenders, man.
What’s hurtful is his views, his mentality, which has led to tragedy and death for gay people for generations. So yes it’s hurtful. Fuck. Him.
You don’t have to be gay to understand that an attack on one person for what makes them different is an attack on anyone for what makes all of us different. This isn’t just about gay people, it’s about respect.
Because it's a belief. He said in the same statement that he wasn't shutting any doors and wanted to invest in him, just that he didn't agree with a life style. It's not like he said they aren't people or shouldn't have rights. He just said he disagreed with the life style.
He is allowed that opinion the same way that we are allowed to believe there is NOTHING wrong with being gay.
