izotope ozone 8 filling system disk

I run a fairly standard production setup with separate drives for my system files, projects/libraries and recording/scratch files. My system drive is quite small and kept as clean as possible. I mainly just have Ableton and my plugins on there.

Recently I've noticed the system drive filling up rapidly whilst using Ableton. Today it actually filled up down to the last byte and I couldn't save.

I think I've found the problem... ozone seems to be filling up the drive with temporary files at C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp. Some of these are izNeutron.blah.blah.tmp, and some are multiple copies of identical wav files of my reference tracks. It seems like it's creating a new copy of the reference track every time I use it. I found 42 copies of a single track in there!

Is this happening for anyone else? Am I safe to delete these files without screwing up anything in my projects? If this is normal behaviour, can I at least tell ozone to store them somewhere else? I can't see anything in the options.

Thanks for any input.

Change the temp folder location to another drive if you can't find a way to stop Ozone from filling it up with these files. I hate when plugins do this. Even worse some plugins put their temp files in their appdata folders instead of temp or the plugin folder. E.g. Xfer Nerve.

Another option is to use Bleachbit or the old non-Avast version of CCleaner to clean out the temp folder ever few days.

Looks like remapping the windows temp folder will be my best bet, thanks.

Do you have ozone on multiple tracks? If so, stop doing that. It’s really a mastering plugin even though it can be used multiple times in a project.

I only have the main plugin once on the master channel. I've used the imager component a couple of times on individual tracks, but that shouldn't cause any problems should it? I can't imagine the imager even uses any temp files.

Ok you’re using it right then. Wondering if you can get a 2nd HD or even an external USB memory stick and define that as the source for temp files in your DAW.

Doesn't look like it... Ableton's temp folders are already set to a different drive but ozone is doing it's own thing.

Looks like I'll have to remap the windows temp folder as suggested by SexualDeth5quad

Hi, same thing is happening to me. I have Reaper and only use one instance on the master track of ozone. Just noticed that I had hundreds of copies of the reference song in the temp folder!! This is unreal! Did you managed to get rid this behaviour?
