Beginner question
Hello I just go the game and noticed the listed /tell command doesnt seem to work.
have PMs been disabled or has the command changed to something else? If private tells are disabled what is the reasoning for this?
thanks in advance

I think to private message someone they need to be in your guild? To prevent spam tells and encourage open world conversation I assume. But I'm not in a guild so I can't confirm.
I like it so far as a non guild person because I only ever talk to ppl in the open world and most are friendly and willing to talk.
That makes sense I guess, I'll try this out once I find a guild thats recruiting.
They are going to have to communicate this a whole lot better before they launch on steam though or this alone will cost them a bunch of grief in the reviews I expect.
The wiki just need some more updates so that it's better understood. I don't believe there was private messaging in UO which this is heavily based off.
Also the official discord acts like your out of game comms for trade/shops/banter/etc
Its a decent system once explained for sure, but the game does 0 in way of explaining this from what i've seen so far, and everyone I met ingame so far could offer no explanation either. I played UO for a while way back when but this is a thing I honestly couldnt remember so did it didnt occur to me this was UO parity. Steam people are not going to want to guess where to find this info(specially since the wiki lists them as working, I tried to edit the article but not sure if it went through). I feel if this isnt communicated better ingame before steam release it will certainly impact steam reviews in the negative
Honestly tho we do need a good chat system. UOs horrible chat definitely isn't what made it great.
I like this chat system tho and I think many people do. Since you don't get spam tells or other bs. Much more interactive having to talk with people your around or use the discord to advertise sales/shops.
