My hilarious headcanon about RE1’s “bad ending”
I just finished RE1 Directors Cut and got the bad ending where Barry dies, only Chris and Jill escape, the Mansion doesn’t explode and the Tyrant is still at large, since this ending isn’t canon we don’t really see what happens next in this timeline, but I came up with my own headcanon of the events that followed:
-
The Tyrant continues to roam the Arklay Mountains as a big foot/sasquatch type figure killing any happy campers in his path, most people think he’s just a myth made up by paranoid conspiracy theorists to explain the mysterious deaths in the Arklay Mountains.
-
Umbrella starts biting their nails since they failed to cover up the outbreak, they suspend their activities to focus their efforts on destroying evidence, so the G virus outbreak doesn’t happen, and Raccoon City still exists.
-
Umbrella dispatches Commandos to destroy the mansion, only to give up after losing too many personnel at the hands of the Tyrant (that has become a more efficient killer after years of experience).
-
25 years have passed and various wars with apocalyptic results have occurred involving the use of Umbrella BOWs, which opens everyone’s eyes to the existence of such creatures, the general public now believes the surviving STARS members stories after years of ridicule and they’re are now as a famous as the astronauts that landed on the Moon.
-
A group of archeologists discover the Spencer Mansion, the first thing they find is Forest Speyer now over 50 years old still walking around the Balcony as a Zombie (because I didn’t kill him in my playthrough), they also discover various “artefacts” including Umbrella research files, notes/journals that I didn’t pick up when I was playing, and a bunch of weapons and items left behind by Jill in a item box.
-
The Spencer Mansion gets turned into a tourist attraction and museum since it is considered to be a significant location where one of the most important chapters of human history took place.
-
People from all over the world come to visit the Spencer Mansion, a tour guide takes guests down to the tunnels under the mansion where Barry’s skeleton is located completely untouched with all his gear still on him, the tour guide hands out brochures about Barry Burton explaining who he was and how he died, one tourist whispers to another “the legend is true! he died with a magnum in his hand!”.
-
Barry’s Widow, Moira and Polly sue the museum, demanding that Barry’s revolver is returned to them as it’s a family heirloom and accuse them of profiteering from their loved ones tragic accident, the museum defends their actions as a good cause raising awareness about the dangers of bioterrorism.
-
Forrest is kept by the museum in captivity like a zoo animal/circus freak, people from all over the world line up for a chance to see a real zombie while a group of activists called “Free Forrest Now!” begin to protest demanding that the legendary STARS sniper is put out of his misery.
-
It’s now 2098 and a hundred years have passed since the Mansion Incident, Chris, Jill, Rebecca (who found her own way out of the Mansion) and Brad have all long passed away and maintained until their dying breaths that the museum was in bad taste, however the Mansion raised a lot of tourism money for Raccoon City and made the mid western town a household name across the world leading it to become as big and popular as New York City, the Tyrant is still alive and the Raccoon City Police Department to this day still have no clue as to why people always die when they camp in the Arklay Mountains.
