My "the one" is now a mother of four who refuses to work and makes her husband, who is a Ph.D. and who "won" her over me, support her and their whole brood on one income in the small shit-hole town she grew up in so she can be close to her own mother, despite living there resulting in Ph.D. hubby being forced to take a low-paying job that doesn't even utilize his education because there are no high-end jobs there. This guy and I almost came to blows over this woman. She has of course put on 50+ pounds of flab since her days of being pretty enough to fight over. I used to hate the guy who "won" her. Now I feel sorry for him and thankful that he "won." He basically jumped on a grenade for me, all those years ago.
