Mirror Universe Sisko Replaced Real Sisko in Season 3 of Deep Space 9 - Star Trek Theory

Impossible.

  1. Mirror Sisko wasn't in Starfleet while Sisko was an experienced Starfleet officer. You just can't replace that knowledge.

  2. Bashir was an Augment he would realize instantly if Sisko was switched. He could diagnose diseases just by looking at others.

  3. Dax would also realize because Mirror Sisko wouldn't remember small details about their previous adventures.

  4. Prophets would know that this isn't their Sisko.

I totally agree with you, but for argument’s sake we just saw a mirror captain replace a prime universe captain in DSC, so the first point could at least be argued

But yeah, the rest of your points are pretty indisputable

I don't think you can argue the first point, because as you said, Mirror Captain Lorca replaced Captain Lorca, but you can't just go replacing Captain Sisko with Mirror Sisko - because there is no mirror Captain Sisko, he's just some random privateer with no knowledge of Starfleet directives, Omega Protocol, technical specifications, etc.

I agree. there's a huge difference because of the time period. up until Spocks time the Terran Empire was genuinely a mirror of Starfleet (setting the Defiant aside), their technology and training was all the same, just in a different context. mirror Lorca was raised in a similar environment to prime Lorca, went through more or less the same training as Lorca, and between the knowledge from the Defiant and anything he could just look up with his Captain's level access, he could easily fill in the few gaps to fake being a Starfleet officer, only failing where it came to prime-specific Lorca interpersonal relationships, such as with Cornwell

but by the time of Sisko, the Terran Empire collapsed completely. the environment that Mirror Sisko was raised in was nothing like prime anymore, and trying to supplant him would take him years of studying and memorizing things to be able to feasibly pass as him

And 5. Jake would have noticed, given how close he was with his father.

I dunno, the prophets could be a little daft

Oddly enough, point #3 actually did happen on the show, just in reverse. Mirror Jadzia slapped Prime Sisko for making out with her under false pretenses the last time he had crossed over.

Maybe Mirror Sisko founded Starfleet in the mirror universe by himself using knowledge he got from the Defiant and that's why he's so fond of that name for a ship.

Edit: Oh wait, I thought this was shittydaystrom.

I was just about to post versions of 1, 3 and 4.

This has been a weird couple months as a Trek fan. I've learned people have some very odd DS9 opinions. Like easily debunkable DS9 opinions.

Im fairly certain a lot of the new posts/theories are written by people who never watched the shows. Even in Daystorm a lot of posts are easily debunked with lines from the show, flat out debunked or even entire episodes/episode arcs.

I point to the massive influx of "Just watched" and "What order should I watch for the first time" threads, also some real wtf questions/theories in Daystorm that im surprised aren't insta-removed.

Maybe Discovery is doing something far better than just ruining lore for the sake of being new, bringing in a ton of new StarTrek fans.

Minor rant: Every issue could have been solved by A) putting it post VOY and not a fucking prequel and B) Not changing the look of Klingons, at least most of this is retconnable by already existing in-universe explanations.

Prophets would know that this isn't their Sisko.

Its quite possible the Prophets wouldn't care what dimension "The Sisko" is in. We already know they're 5th dimensional beings at least. 3 dimensions being XYZ cords, 4th being time where we humans are (Imagine a line of Cubes, each cube a moment in time), the prophets exist without time and since they also have a past and future (their unknown answer to their war with the Pah Wraiths) that must exist in some dimension, therefor it must be the 5th (Imagine that line of cubes, but multiple lines of those cubes), or alternate dimensions ala Parallels.

From their point of view in our view, The Sisko just jumped a few days ahead, or behind, or something.

Also theres no guarantee that their fight against the Pah Wraiths cares about what reality they're currently in.

Additionally since Sisko exists in the Mirror Universe and thus all universes that allow it, they are ALL the Prophets Sisko, since Sisko can't exist without the Prophets. Would they really care which one is in what universe?

Everything else is spot on, especially Dax.

It would be funny if that happened though. Did you guys know that the network actually raised a stink about Sisko changing his looks?

I liked it he went from looking hammy to looking badass.

Pustuli0•

The fuss over his looks was because they didn't want fans to think of Sisko as "Hawk in Space" (Hawk being his only other well known at the time character from Spencer for Hire). But after a couple of seasons I guess they decided that Sisko's character was well enough established that they didn't object to Brooks going back to the shaved head and beard.

I like how 'Rikers Beard' is an urban dictionary term for a show doing the opposite of jumping the shark. Perhaps Brooks wanted to do it for that reason!

Which network? DS9 was produced for first-run syndication.

2
MrFack•

Well whomever Berman and Behr had to speak with about it.

Hahahahahaha. I love this theory. No way it's cannon... but it's definitely my headcannon now!

OneMarioOP•

Yeah, I was afraid people would take it too seriously, but I love arguments like this.

I love it. Now someone make a similar video about season 2 Riker going forward.

There’s a stronger case that this happened to Picard after Generations.

His reaction to the Borg in First Contact was disproportionate to the reckoning we’d already seen and the flashbacks didn’t match. He was more aggressive in the last three movies, displayed a knack for action previously unseen, showed discomfort at diplomatic protocol, etc.

I’m not saying it was intentional, air-tight as an idea, or without a need to establish how Mirror Picard also became Locutus. But it’s a heck of a lot more workable than Sisko.

Especially as all the licensed, pre-TNG era material posits Picard was an officer in a dwindling empire. So he’d have the skills and training.

Cyhawk•

First Contact Picard can be explained by the final scene in "All Good things", when he realizes there is more to existence/exploration than just exploring new worlds and meeting new civilizations. His experience with the future shows him his current path of up tightness and rigid adherence to Federation ideals and values ruins his life and nearly destroys the universe as we know it. His eyes opened by this experience, knowing he needs to change he finally sits down with his crew and plays Poker.

Further along he loosens up more, no longer the stiff Shakespearan actor and perfect Federation pinup Captain he lives life to its fullest, no longer to a goal he can never achieve (Family) without sacrificing everything, he says fuck it, grabs the tommy gun and rips the Borg a new one, and has a little fun getting revenge on the ones who kidnapped him and forced his knowledge to nearly destroy the Federation.

Next, you'll be saying mirror Riker replaced him after season 2.

I came up with this idea last year and now I'm regretting not jumping on it.

I like how the narrator rolls his R’s. Anyone know the nationality of the narrator?

0
OneMarioOP•

I think he's Israeli

1
e8ghtmileshigh•

Definitely Israeli

0
dstalor•

He's Israeli, you can tell from his personal vlog linked in the description. The interesting thing is that I've never heard an Israeli roll their Rs like that, even in Hebrew - I'm wondering if he comes from an Arabic-speaking background.

Are we sure he's not just underwater?
