Tattoo artist recommendations in Austin, TX?

Hey everyone, 26 yr old male interested in getting my first tattoo and I have no idea where to begin. I was hoping to get recommendations on artists here in Austin.

My brother had his done at Electric 13 many years ago.

I’m not sure if these posts are allowed here, but thought I’d give it a shot.

Thanks!

Your starting point should be ---- do you want color, black/grey, etc. I have many and my last one I knew I wanted something with prominent line work so I checked several tattoo shop websites in the area I wanted to go (have no desire to go downtown and deal with parking), then checked each artist's gallery of tattoos. I happened to find someone that did delicate line work in every tattoo and choose her. My next one might be a fox which means I need to find an artist that can do fur which is not easy. If you are not sure of those specifications then just look at the artists photos of their work and one will eventually stand out to you. Every tattoo by the artist will make you want to keep seeing more pics, then you know you found someone that you will be proud to wear their art. Many artists have their strengths and weaknesses.

This was incredibly insightful and I didn’t think to consider different details and the particulars of drawings such as you mentioned. Thank you!

Very welcome. You will wear this for life so you don't want regrets. If you fall in love with an artists style they will help you design the perfect piece. Good luck

Ben Siebert from Great Wave Tattoo. I have a couple buddies that have been getting stuff from him for years. Really good for traditional style and Japanese style tattoos
