Scav gameplay from a new player

So I am 25 hours into tarkov, about to hit level 10... cause I'm terrible... What is everyone's thoughts on the current state of Scav factory? I try and not shoot scavs, as intended, and get domed by some hot shot scav player from behind. I kill a scav player that shoots at me and all the other scavs kill me. I kill all scavs and sometimes I win but usually no cause the odds are then really stacked aginst me. I find a friendly scav and we wiggle only to get merk'd by another player scav later in the raid. So is the point of a Scav to play the same as you would PMC/Bear only with less armor? Cause the way it is currently that is how it feels. Everyone is still aginst you, cause if you do not just kill all the scavs you see from the start you are gonna have a bad time. But at the same time you have no alpha case and are usually unarmored.

I dk, just doesn't seem like the way scav play was supposed to function, but maybe im just salty boi rn.

Thoughts? git gud?
