How to have two buttons on the same action (PC Only)

Many people have been wondering if it's possible to do, or have been requesting this feature from Psyonix. Even though this is a solution, it's not a replacement for Psyonix actually implementing the ability themselves. If they did, it would be more convenient AND it would allow console users to do so as well.

First, you need to go into the config file. On Windows, this is located in "My Games > Rocket League > TAGame > Config". There are two here. The one we need is "TAInput.ini". It's best to open this file with "Notepad++", but if you open it in normal Notepad, be sure to disable word wrap for your own sanity.

Now, you go to the section of the bindings. For KBM, the name of the bindings will be "PCBindings=". For controller it will be "GamepadBindings=", just below PCBindings. All you have to do is find the action you want to duplicate to a new binding, and copy-paste it right next to itself. Like this:

GamepadBindings=( Action="Handbrake",				Key="XboxTypeS_X", bRequired=true )
GamepadBindings=( Action="Handbrake",				Key="XboxTypeS_X", bRequired=true )

Now, edit either one and change the "Key=" value to the button you want. So if you want Powerslide ("Handbrake") on both X and LB, it would look like this:

GamepadBindings=( Action="Handbrake",				Key="XboxTypeS_X", bRequired=true )
GamepadBindings=( Action="Handbrake",				Key="XboxTypeS_LeftShoulder", bRequired=true )

Note: The line that is closest to the bottom will be the "changeable" keybind in the controls menu. So it will display as LB in the controls menu. If you want to avoid that, change the one closest to the top.

If you want a list of all the possible keybindings for controller, here they are:

XboxTypeS_DPad_Left=Left
XboxTypeS_DPad_Right=Right
XboxTypeS_DPad_Up=Up
XboxTypeS_DPad_Down=Down
Gamepad_RightStick_Left=GAMEPAD_RS_Left
Gamepad_RightStick_Right=GAMEPAD_RS_Right
Gamepad_RightStick_Up=GAMEPAD_RS_Up
Gamepad_RightStick_Down=GAMEPAD_RS_Down
Gamepad_LeftStick_Left=Left
Gamepad_LeftStick_Right=Right
Gamepad_LeftStick_Up=Up
Gamepad_LeftStick_Down=Down
XboxTypeS_A=GAMEPAD_A
XboxTypeS_B=GAMEPAD_B
XboxTypeS_X=GAMEPAD_X
XboxTypeS_Y=GAMEPAD_Y
XboxTypeS_LeftShoulder=GAMEPAD_L1
XboxTypeS_LeftTrigger=GAMEPAD_L2
XboxTypeS_LeftThumbStick=GAMEPAD_L3
XboxTypeS_RightShoulder=GAMEPAD_R1
XboxTypeS_RightTrigger=GAMEPAD_R2
XboxTypeS_RightThumbStick=GAMEPAD_R3
XboxTypeS_Start=START
XboxTypeS_Back=BACK

Note: These bindings apply to all controllers, even PS4 controllers. You'll have know the equivalent button from Xbox to PS4 to make these changes.

Note 2: For controls that use the analog stick, the name of the bindings they use are:

XboxTypeS_LeftX
XboxTypeS_LeftY
XboxTypeS_RightX
XboxTypeS_RightY

Triggers also use:

XboxTypeS_RightTriggerAxis
XboxTypeS_LeftTriggerAxis

They are modified by values like:

AxisSign=AxisSign_Positive
AxisSign=AxisSign_Negative

However, these shouldn't be important since you likely aren't binding other actions to the analog sticks or triggers. And if you just want to rebind them to the analog stick clicks (L3 / R3), then you can just use Gamepad_RightThumbstick or Gamepad_LeftThumbstick.

One Final Note

If you change these bindings in the config file, this will actually change your "default" bindings. So if you hit "Reset to Default", this will change your bindings to what is here in the config file. This means you can actually change all of the bindings listed to your preferred keybindings and never have to remember the keybindings you use again. Maybe you accidentally hit reset to default. Maybe you use a shared account with family. Maybe you play on an alternate account. Either way, hitting reset to default while the "TAInput.ini" file is in the config folder, it will change your bindings to that.

I recommend if you want to change your "default" bindings, to copy the new config file you made to a safe location, probably just make a "Backup" folder in "TAGame". That way if you don't remember your bindings, you can just copy and paste the config from your backup.
