Oh damn. That Mamiya and Light meter are a dream of mine. You're a lucky dude.

What genres do you spend most of your time doing?

Thanks! I dreamed about having a Mamiya 7 for years before I got mine. They're awesome.

I shoot social documentary and fine art. I have some stuff on IG if you're interested.

I sold my Mamiya 7 to help fund moving across the country last year. seeing this hurt :(

I can relate. Had to sell lenses a time or two to pay rent. Really does hurt.

Nice edc! (I looked and your instagram too, awesome photos) How does the Mamiya work?

Thanks!

I really like the Mamiya 7. Super light (for a MF camera), really high-res lenses, big bright viewfinder and it's simplistic. The downsides are that the lenses are slow which kills lowlight work and the minimum focus distance is about 1 metre for all lenses and that limits portrait work. Neither really bother me that much.

When I see EDC like this, I'm like, "Yea, I guess I need a camera now"

Unless you're on a super tight budget, there's no reason not to get a camera. Even a cheap film point and shoot would be better than nothing.

seeing that you have a Pixel 2, would you recommend phones over cheap dedicated cameras for casual day-to-day photography?

1
unusual_algorithmOP•

I wouldn't. I don't think the camera is that good. I'd always recommend an actual camera.

Yeah, if you can handle the weight, medium format film cameras can produce amazing quality and are super cheap. I have a mamiya 645 plus a hand full of prime lenses and it can go toe to toe with my Nikon D750 under iso 1600. Digital blows away film for high iso still though
