lucky bastard XD. Really beautiful guns.
Isnt it? It’s always an Aromatherapy for me, “nothing like fresh powder” I always say.
I have to ask, how much did you pay for that SVT-40.
I was able to get it a little bit under what would be market value. Pretty lucky grab on it and was able to talk down the seller.
What actually scares me about the rifle is the cost of milsurp magazines.
I know right, $70 is like a good price.
I think you found reproduction magazines that sometimes have a habit of not working too well. True soviet ones are $250+ ea vOv
How much do you pay for 7.62x54r ammo? Where do you get it?
I would do horrible things for an SVT40
I like your Tokarev
How hard is it to find mags for the 106? Do you ever have reliability issues with steel cased 5.56? Can you use 5.45 mags if you down load them? I’ve been contemplating ordering one if they’re available again.
5.56 AK magazines are a tricky thing for sure. Good luck finding any of the Bulgarian Arsenal 30 round magazines as they are mostly dried up and not importing many of those and those tend to be a bit pricey. ProMag makes mags for it too, again with it being kind of difficult to find, but those tend to be much less expensive. You can find Polish Radom AK magazines for it, apparently they work, but I havent tried them.
When I mean its kind of tough to find them, you wont find any retailer generally that has them, gunbroker tends to be the primary source.
Not sure about 5.45 magazines, thats probably a question for r/ak47
Sorry u/Thedaveabides98 I had to poke fun with your post since we kind of mirrored each other lol :)
1940 SVT40
Arsenal SLR106FR
Wait, since when is the smell of spent gunpowder not aromatherapy?
Also that svt....god damn that’s a beautiful rifle, is that the original stock or a recreation with a more aesthetic looking grain?
As far as I can tell it was either the original that was put on it, or maybe one that came from when the rifle was refirb'd by the Russians at some point. You can tell that it was usually by the plum colored bolt carrier. Judging by other rifles I have of the same age, it doesnt look to be refinished since then.
I would welcome seeing you in battle! You are truly a worthy adversary.
