Months ago I posted my 205# clean PR with a description of my injury history. A couple of weeks ago I reached a monumental goal of mine and hit two blues (225#)! Much to work on but I’m still so happy to have this under my belt.

You’d be lifting more if you could maintain a better position off the ground and during the catch. Congrats on the PR.

Great effort but man I would get that form down at a lower weight before you do that again.

Wheel_FerrisOP•

Definitely, dude. I’ve been working on pause front squats and squat cleans at lighter weight. This vid was pretty eye-opening.

jew-iiish•

This is exactly what you should be doing!

1
taegrr•

Oh man, held my breath as your catch bent your back. Grats on all those blue plates!

13
ChapIsABot•

That’s probably why you have a history with injuries. Because you allow yourself to lift with horrible form.

Wheel_FerrisOP•

Lol my injuries have nothing to do with lifting and/or CrossFit and I’m well aware that my core and lower back need immense work to stabilize out of the hole. I had two meniscectomy procedures from an extensive background of playing basketball.

I’ve been working on my front rack position, core, and pulls since this lift. Just proud to have moved this “mountain”.

Great job man! It's a good feeling when you PR! Form is down to break down for everyone at or near their 1RM, so don't let that discourage you. Some lifts won't always be perfect, but we get better and better each time we train. You just keep working on your known weaknesses and you're sure to succeed. 6 months from now you'll be posting a video of you hitting 265 with flawless form!

Good PR and congrats.

ChapIsABot•

I see. But never lift something if you can’t lift it with good form. But you do you I guess I just hate to see people get injured

-2†
MiamiHeat2015•

Sometimes you have to take reasonable attempts to get stronger. You don’t make a habit of it but if on a reasonable deadlift PR attempt for example you round your back, I think it’s acceptable. I thought he was fine

15
ChapIsABot•

I disagree. In training it’s never fine that’s why Crossfit has a bad rep with bad form/injuries. Never let bad form slide. If you can’t lift something with good form you just aren’t strong enough to lift it.

-4†
EndlersaurusRexCrossfit Combat Fitness•

I guess you’ve never been to a weightlifting, powerlifting, or strongman competition. Ideal form is something to strive for, but there’s certainly wiggle room in certain conditions.

5
ChapIsABot•

Competitions are a different thing and an exception to this rule. That’s why I spoke about training

1
Fenzito•

Plus PRs are dirty anyways

-3†
rugbysecondrow•

Why are you being a dick? Dude posts a happy post, you find it is your place to shit on him.

Does that make you feel better?

9
ChapIsABot•

Somebody needs to tell him like it is. I could have put it like rainbows and sunshines oh work on this blah blah blah. But there’s never an excuse for lifting like shit during training. This is why Crossfit gets a bad rep and I have to explain to everyone that yeah we don’t actually ego lift or lift with shit form. Then I see this? Nice another video to fuel the haters fuel.

-1†
rugbysecondrow•

If you gave a pointer or identified an area he could work on, then I might accept your answer.

You did not do that, you jumped straight into being a jerk and were the opposite of helpful.

Edit..I see you did that later in the thread.

3
ChapIsABot•

He has multiple areas to work on. He probably knew that aswell, but instead he went for the extra weight and did not bail even his form went to shit. That needs to be called out imo.

Pledriko•

Why are you being retarded?

Form IS shitty and he should be told that so he can fix it.

-3
rugbysecondrow•

Your form is shitty and that is why you get hurt.

First, you statement is factually incorrect. His form is not shitty. There are things he, and most of us, can do to improve our lifts, but this is a natural part of learning and growing in the lifts. Just because there are a couple things that can be improved does not mean the form is shitty.

Second, explain how that is helpful? Did he point out an area to work on? Did he offer any cues that might help the guy? Did he say anything remotely resembling advice that could help him "fix it"?

If not, then he is just being a dick.

Upvotes for this bullshit ?

Congrats on the PR man - there is something about the four wheels on the bar that is super intimidating to get under. It sounds like you’re aware of your own lifting kinematics. We can all improve some part of our games.

Great Job! You give me hope, I hit 205 a couple of weeks ago and also have that goal of 2 plates.

5
ExtractionPartners•

FOUR Blues! You killed it

5
Strength_sport_•

Add in some upper back hypertrophy work(snatch grip block pulls, rows of any form, lat pulldowns, etc.) should help with positional strength so you can hold your upper back posture while pulling off the floor.

4
Wheel_FerrisOP•

Thank you!! I’ll make note of this!

2
arik124•

You should note that unlike every other fake coach in here, u/Strength_sport talked about strengthening your upper back.

This is, for the time being your primary concern. Your upper back is your weakest link. Until you get rid of that imbalance your squats will always look like this. You don't have bad form because you lack technique. You have bad form because your muscles arent strong enough to do it correctly.

2
Ghepip•

Actually you now have this above your belt.

3
GillieGuy•

This is the kind of stuff that gives Crossfit a bad name. Snap city.

Holmbergjsh•

Cite one study, man. One study.

Fucking broscience.

Did I say Crossfit is dangerous? No. I don’t actually believe that. I’ve been Crossfitting for 6 years without injury and I think it’s awesome. I’m saying that people who post videos like this and call it Crossfit give outsiders the impression that it’s dangerous, and rightly so.

Beagletronic•

Nice fight coming out of the hole!

1†

Congrats on your lift bro! There are a ton of hypocrites commenting as if they have perfect form every single lift they’ve made.

1
BrysonRhett•

Nice work. You have more if you can open your hips fully before jumping under the bar. Keep it up and you’ll be hitting 245# in no time.

-1
Ainjyll•

Good job, man!

I won’t beat you up with critiques, as others have already pointed out where you can improve.

-2†
Particular_Week•

I see why you have an injury history now

-2†
kwijibob•

Well done. People may pick at your form but they have never lifted the double blues.
