Can we take a moment to appreciate all that Linus Torvalds has done for us?

but consumers didn't fuck Nvidia enough(quite the opposite in numbers)
No doubt that Nvidia is loving this, I'm sure.

I'm sure some people would, but those guys are too busy reading man pages and recompiling their kernels.
Very few Linux users compile their own kernels anymore.
It's a breeze nowadays, with all the threads these new Ryzen processors have. Hell, if you're running Arch or Gentoo the whole process of compiling a kernel with custom patches can be as simple as editing a text file and compiling the package. Quite remarkable!
Spotted the person who never used Linux before.
I have used Linux many times over the years. The first time was in the mid 90's with a slackware install from a huge stack of 3.5" disks. I've used multiple distros since then, including Red Hat, Ubuntu and Azure.
I'm not saying Linux is bad. It isn't. But in my opinion it's still not for most home users. It's fiddly. Yes, it's gotten much better, but it's still not an OS for most people.
who the hell is that nerd
Linus Torvalds
Linus Torvalds, a Finnish-American responsible for a large portion of the Linux kernel, being his own project that he founded. He also started Git, being unhappy with version control systems of the time. The Linux kernel is found in every Linux distribution as well as Android and ChromeOS devices. Most of the internet is run on Linux servers, so enjoy knowing everytime you use the internet, you come into contact with code created and hosted by this man.

Giving Nvidia the middle finger seems way off base until you've tried to get one of their cards working well in Linux
For some reason it seems way easier with Quadro cards than gaming cards.
Maybe because of linux based GPU servers?
Bingo.
